In this phase, we begin with something very simple, but very important:
learning how your nervous system works and how to return to your body.
Most people move through life primarily in their thoughts, reacting to stress, responsibilities, and emotions without fully understanding what is happening inside their body. Over time, this can lead to feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, tired, or stuck in patterns that are difficult to change.
Before we can change how we live, how we respond, or how we feel, we first need to understand the system we are living in — our nervous system, our body, and our internal states.
In this phase, you will begin to:
This phase is not about doing things perfectly.
It is about noticing, learning, and becoming aware.
Many people discover in this phase that they have been living in stress for a long time without realizing it. Others discover they don’t feel their body very much at all. Others notice how quickly their thoughts and emotions change when their nervous system changes.
All of this is normal.
The goal of Phase One is not to fix you.
The goal is to help you understand yourself and learn how to support your nervous system.
As you move through this phase, you will use simple tools such as:
Over time, these tools help your body learn that it is safe to relax, safe to feel, and safe to slow down. When the body begins to feel safe, everything else becomes easier — emotions, relationships, sleep, focus, and overall well-being.
You may notice small changes at first:
These are all signs that your nervous system is beginning to regulate and that your awareness is growing.
There is nothing to rush.
This phase builds the foundation for everything that comes later.
Awareness comes first.
Regulation comes next.
From there, everything else becomes possible.

Week 1 — Awareness and Understanding the Nervous System
This week is about understanding the system you live in every day — your nervous system.
Most people try to change their thoughts, their emotions, or their behavior without first understanding what is happening in their body. But the truth is, much of how we think, feel, and react is not a conscious choice — it is the nervous system responding automatically to what it perceives as stress or safety.
The nervous system is always asking one question:
Am I safe right now, or do I need to protect myself?
Depending on the answer to that question, your body and brain will change how you think, how you feel, how you speak, how you make decisions, and how you respond to other people.
This happens automatically and often without us realizing it.
Many reactions that people feel bad about later — snapping at someone, shutting down, avoiding things, overthinking, feeling anxious, feeling numb — are not personality flaws.
They are nervous system responses.
The body has a few basic ways of responding when it feels stress or danger:
These are not weaknesses.
These are survival responses.
Your body is trying to protect you, even if the situation is not actually dangerous.
Your nervous system is responsible for:
In other words, the nervous system is not just about nerves — it is about how you experience life.
When the nervous system feels safe, you tend to:
When the nervous system feels stressed or unsafe, you may:
Most people are not reacting to life —
they are reacting from their nervous system state.
This is one of the most important ideas in this entire program:
State changes everything.
When your nervous system state changes:
So instead of asking:
“What’s wrong with me?”
We start asking:
“What state is my nervous system in right now?”
This one question alone can change how you see yourself and your reactions.
This week, you are not trying to fix anything.
You are not trying to change everything.
You are not trying to be perfect.
Your only goal this week is awareness.
Start noticing:
Just notice.
Awareness is the first step to change.
If you can notice your state, you can eventually learn to change your state.
And once you can change your state,
you can begin to change how you experience your life.
